PMO defends PM's record of achievements

In an attempt to dispel the notion that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has not been communicating, his office today mounted a strong defence by saying that he has made a speech every three days in the last ten years. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Dr Singh's media advisor Pankaj Pachauri said, newspapers give more coverage to the Prime Minister than news channels. Claiming that GDP and per capita income trippled during the last ten years, he lamented that people do not know more about the UPA government's achievements as priorities of TV channels are different.

In reply to a question, whether Dr Singh needs to make a statement on his former advisor Sanjay Baru's book, Pachauri said, there is no need for him to do so as PMO has already clarified the issue twice. Baru's book claims that Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s instructions were sought for clearing government files and decisions were taken by her.
