PMAGY launches in Sri Ganganagar

The Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, PMAGY, was launched in one of the villages in Padampur block, in district Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan today. With this, Rajasthan has become the first state of the country to launch this scheme Describing the schme as a significant initiative to empower the deprived sections of society, the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh in his message said, the scheme is aimed at integrating the development of one thousand villages where the majority of population belongs to Scheduled Castes. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Mukul Wasnik called on the government functionaries and Panchyatiraj institutions to work in a coordinated manner to realise the vision of Adarsh Gram in 225 selected villages in the state. AIR correspondent says that the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana has been taken in the states of Bihar, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Assam.
