Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that tough decisions are needed in the coming one or two years to bring financial discipline. Addressing a convention of BJP workers at Bambolim, near Panaji, Mr Modi said this is needed to restore the financial health and boost the country's self-confidence.
Calling for peoples support Prime Minister said strong measures in the short run may not go down well with some sections. He attacked the way the previous UPA government had handled the economy and said that they have left everything empty.
Later Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the new Mandovi bridge at Panaji. The new bridge, will be a cable strayed bridge to be built at an estimated cost of 466 crore rupees This will be the third bridge across the River Mandovi, connected capital Panaji with its northern suburbs and the famous beaches of North Goa.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Modi said Government is committed to increasing investment in infrastructure. This would not only create jobs, but spur investment in other sectors as well. Citing South Korea's example he said good infrastructure is one of the key elements for emergence of a modern, prosperous nation.
