Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is reaching Amritsar in the evening today. Official sources said he would pay obeisance at the Golden Temple and Durgiana temple on Sunday, January 1, 2012 in the wee hours.

Reports from Amritsar said that security has been tightened in view of the proposed visit of the Prime Minister with more police force being requisitioned from neighbouring districts.

More that 1,500 police personnel have been deputed to guard various religious places where Prime Minister is likely to visit.
