The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has arrived in Leh to take stock of relief and rescue operations in flood affected area. Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah, Former Union Minister Saifuddin Soz are accompanying the Prime Minister.Meanwhile, the Centre has assured all possible help to Jammu and Kashmir government for relief and rehabilitation of the people, affected by the cloud burst. Making a statement in the Lok Sabha on Monday, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said the Centre has asked the state government to submit a detailed memorandum for provision of relief and long term rehabilitation. The Home Minister said 179 persons including six foreign nationals have lost their lives. He said the situation is being reviewed continuously with other ministries and agencies for convergence in the rescue and relief efforts.
