PM urges scientific community to help in making India knowledge hub of world

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has said that our scientific laboratories and institutions must assume leadership role and take on the challenge to build a new and resurgent India. Addressing the concluding ceremony of the diamond jubilee celebrations of National Chemical Laboratory in Pune on Thursday, he emphasized the need to bring the young people into the fold of research environment. <br/><br/>The prime minister urged the scientific community to help in realizing the dream of making India the knowledge hub of the world. The prime minister has laid the foundation stone of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in the vicinity of NCL. Minister of state for Science and technology Mr. Prithviraj Chavan and minister of state for Human resource development Mrs. D. Purandareshwari and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.<br/><br/>During the last sixty years the National Chemical laboratory in Pune has made its mark in the field of research in chemistry and chemical engineering. NCL belongs to the family of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research popularly known as CSIR. It has on its credit several international patients.<br/>
