PM urges NRIs to return home to join politics, other services

The government has said that Indians residing overseas will get a chance to exercise their franchise from the next general elections.<br/><br/>Addressing the Indian Diaspora at the Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas Sammelan in New Delhi Friday morning, the Prime Minister urged them to return home to join politics and other services.<br/><br/>Seeking the help of Indian Diaspora for national development, Dr. Manmohan Singh said that each citizen should have a share in National Development. Dr. Singh said he was optimistic that India will return to a sustained economic growth of 9-10 per cent in a couple of years.<br/><br/>Asking the second generation of the Diaspora to connect with the ancestral country, the Prime Minister said that India is one of the top investment destination. <br/><br/>He noted that barring the FBI, overseas investment is low given the potential. The Prime Minister said the facilitating Indian students overseas is the top priority of the government.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister said that India is investing much more in building skilled manpower and would emerge as the largest supplier of the trained manpower.
