Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will visit Hyderabad today to take stock of the situation in the aftermath of twin bomb blasts there. The Prime Minister will visit the scene of the crime and also meet some of the injured being treated at various hospitals. 16 people were killed and 117 injured in the twin blasts on Thursday.
Strongly condemning the blasts, the Prime Minister had said soon after the incident that those responsible for the dastardly act would not go unpunished. He appealed the people to remain calm and maintain peace.
Dr Singh has already sanctioned 2 lakh rupees each to next of kin of those killed in the blasts and 50,000 rupees each to those seriously injured, from the PM's Relief Fund. Andhra Pradesh Police had announced a reward of 10 lakh rupees for providing information about culprits involved in the blasts. Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma told reporters yesterday evening that the identity of the person(s) providing information will be kept secret. He said, police had some crucial clues and the investigation had picked momentum. He, however, said that no arrests have been made so far.
The Police Commissioner said that Ammonia Nitrate and timer devices were used in the blasts. AIR correspondent reports, talking to reporters in New Delhi Congress Spokesperson Rashid Alvi said that a concerted efforts will be needed to combat the menace of terrorism.
AIR correspondent reports, the investigation into the Dilsuknagar twin blasts has picked up momentum with Six Special Teams being formed to probe the case while Additional Commissioner of Police Sandeep Shandilya heading the Special Investigating Team of the crime branch. State Director General of Police Dinesh Reddy said 15 crack teams have been pressed into service to track the culprits.
The police are closely working with their counterparts in other states like Bihar, Jharkhand and Maharashtra form where they are getting inputs about the possible perpetrators. The police are also hopeful of getting key evidence from the video footage captured from traffic cameras near the blast site.
Meanwhile, 11 persons who are being treated at various hospitals in Hyderabad are battling for their lives as their health condition deteriorated further despite continues medical attention. While the political parties and civil society are widely demonstrating their recent against terror acts, the Ground Zero at Dilsuknagar is slowly limping back to normalcy.
