PM, Union Cabinet condole death of Arunachal Pradesh CM Dorjee Khandu

Union Cabinet today condoled the untimely and tragic death of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu. In a resolution adopted at an emergency meeting of the Cabinet in New Delhi today, the Cabinet placed on record the services of the great son of the soil. The resolution says through several new initiatives, Khandu helped establish synergy between the schemes of the State and the Central government. It said, his pro-active steps for expeditious implementation of the Prime Minister's package and construction of trans-Arunachal highways, helped a great deal in timely completion of these projects. The resolution also said that Dorjee, a strong votary of citizen centric administration introduced third party monitoring system for ensuring transparency in developmental works. It further said that in his passing away, the nation has lost an eminent leader, an able administrator and a compassionate human being who was committed to all round development.The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh while condoling the death described him a veteran politician who worked tirelessly to promote the interests of the state. Dr. Singh in a condolence message to the wife of Khandu said he worked hard for the development of Arunachal Pradesh and served the state with distinction after being appointed the 5th Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh in April 2007.In an emergency session of Congress Working Committee presided over by party President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, the death of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu was condoled. Describing him as a war veteran and a people's leader, the Party spokesperson Janardan Dwivedi said, Khandu lived and died for the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
