The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has underscored the need to ensure transparency in public-private partnership (PPP) projects. He said that the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, CAG, be permitted to look into the books of these infrastructure schemes. Emphasising the need for accurate and balanced report by the country's top audit institution, the Prime Minister said CAG reports were taken very seriously by the government, parliament, media and the public at large. He said, the government is taking measures to ensure quick and timely action on CAG reports.The Prime Minister said this at a function to mark the 150 years of Comptroller and Auditor General of India in New Delhi on Tuesday.
