Prime Minister Narendra Modi today declassified 100 files relating to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on the occasion of Netaji's 119th birth anniversary in New Delhi. Paying tribute to Netaji, Mr Modi released the digital copies of the files at National Archives of India. The National Archives is placing these files in public domain after preliminary conservation treatment and digitization. Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma was also present on the occasion. Mr Modi also met family members of Netaji on the occasion.<br/><br/>The declassification of files will meet the long-standing public demand to access these files and also facilitate scholars to carry out further research on Netaji. Prime Minister in his meeting with a delegation of members of Netaji's family at his residence on 14th of October last year, had announced that the Centre would declassify the files relating to Netaji and make them accessible to public. The first lot of 33 files was declassified by the Prime Minister's Office and handed over to the National Archives on 4th of last month. The National Archives has further plans to release digital copies of 25 declassified files on Netaji in public domain every month.
