PM to visit Leh tomorrow

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is visiting Leh tomorrow to review the relief and rescue operations for the people affected by flash floods in Leh.The Centre has assured all possible help to Jammu and Kashmir government for relief and rehabilitation of the people, affected by the cloud burst. Making a statement in the Lok Sabha today, the Home Minister, Mr. P. Chidambaram said the Centre has asked the state government to submit a detailed memorandum for provision of relief and long term rehabilitation. The minister said 179 persons including six foreign nationals have lost their lives.He said the situation is being reviewed continuously with other ministries and agencies for convergence in the rescue and relief efforts. The Prime Minister has already announced an ex-gratia relief of one lakh rupees each to the next of kin of the deceased.
