The Prime Minister, Dr.Manmohan Singh will visit Assam tomorrow to take stock of the flood situation. State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told AIR that the Prime Minister made a telephone call to him to enquire about the present flood situation. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is also likely to visit the state on the same day. Dr.Singh already announced an ex-gratia of 1 lakh rupees to the kin of each of those killed in the flood. The BJP has constituted a high level delegation to visit the flood affected areas of Assam to asses the situation. Meanwhile, flood situation in Upper Assam has improved as water level in the Brahmaputra and its tributaries receded. But around 400 villages in Goalpara and Dhubri district are still reeling under water.
