The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh will visit Assam tomorrow to take stock of the flood situation. State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told AIR that the Prime Minister made a telephonic call to him to enquire about the present flood situation. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is also likely to visit the state tomorrow. Dr. Singh has already announced an ex-gratia of One lakh rupees to the kin of each of those killed in the flood. The BJP has constituted a high level delegation to visit the flood affected areas of Assam to asses the situation. Meanwhile, the flood situation in Upper Assam has improved as water level in the Brahmaputra and its tributaries receded. People have started leaving the relief camps in most of the districts. The recent wave of floods has badly damaged roads, schools, health centres, bridges and crops. The floods have affected about 12 lakh people in 23 districts.
