Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be unveiling the National Perspective Plan for Port Development with a potential employment creation for one crore people. <br/><br/>Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Union Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari said the perspective plan is expected to attract over Rs 12 lakh crore investments in the port development. <br/><br/>Stating that for the first time, the Maritime Sector has been given importance in the country, he said 3,000 delegates from 41 countries including over 50 CEOs of maritime industries are taking part in the Maritime Summit.<br/><br/>He said over 80 MoUs will be signed during the three day summit involving over 70 thousand crore rupees. He also said development of 8 more major ports will be taken up out of which three, Wadwa, Sagar port and one more in Madurai have been identified and have got cabinet approval. <br/><br/>He said five more ports are under consideration. 80 port transport projects also have been finalised. Mr Gadkari further announced 35 kilometers of the state highway touching Dr Babadaheb Ambedkar' s native place, Ambadve village into a national highway and announced sanction of Rs 500 crore to develop cement and concrete road.
