The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is likely to review the preparations for the Commonwealth Games on Tuesday. This will be the second time within a month that Dr. Singh would be taking stock of the preparations for the mega event. Earlier, he had asked the authorities to redouble their efforts to quickly complete remaining work saying that people are expecting a flawless opening to the Commonwealth Games. Meanwhile, the chairman of the Organising committee of the Games Suresh Kalmadi has said that all venues for the upcoming mega event are ready and capable of hosting any event at short notice. The formal opening of the games village will be held on the 23rd of this month when the contingents from India and abroad start arriving at the village. The Secretary General of the organising committee Lalit Bhanot said that the curtain raiser for the opening of the games village will take place on the 16th. He said that the state of art village kitchen has been installed and has begun functioning in its residential zones. He said that the first meals will be served today. Meanwhile, the trial runs for dedicated Commonwealth Games tracks are being extended to peak hours from today. The traffic police will block off one lane on one of the stretch this evening between 4 to 6 P.M. Trial runs will also be carried out the same stretch between 8 and and 10 tomorrow.
