Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 12th South Asian Games on 5th of this month at Guwahati in a glittering ceremony. Briefing media in New Delhi Secretary of Sports, Rajiv Yadav said it will be the biggest sporting extravaganza ever held in the North East India. <br/><br/>He said this will first ever gender equal South Asian Games with men and women players will participation in all the sports. Mr. Yadav said till now 1377 mens and 1105 women athletes from various countries is given conformation of participation. <br/><br/>During the games 228 events in 23 Sports disciplines will be played. Of them 16 Sports Disciplines will be played at Guwahati and 7 Sports at Shillong. SAARC nations namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be participating in the games.
