PM to meet Planning Commission members

The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Wednesday held a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission and other members this evening to review the state of economy of the country. Later, Member, Planning Commission, Abhijit Sen said that Dr Manmohan Singh suggested the performance of the current fiscal should be incorported into the mid-term appraisal of the 11th Plan by March. The Prime Minister also reviewed the performance of various sectors which were hit hard by the global melt-down.<br/><br/>Dr manmohan Singh is also understood to have discussed the gross budgetary support for the next fiscal in view of the start of the budgetary exercise as well measures measures to check rising food prices. Our correspondent says the the closed door meeting which lasted for about two hours came a day after the Delivery monitoring cell in the PMO reviewed the progress of 18 the flagship and other programmes as well as the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Plan for Jammu and Kashmir and Infrastructure Development in North-Eastern Region.
