PM to make statement in Parliament on JPC to probe 2G scam

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is likely to make a statement in Parliament on Tuesday on the government's intention to form a Joint Parliamentary Committee to probe the 2G spectrum allocation scam. He is likely to make the statement in the Lok Sabha soon after the introduction of new ministers in his Cabinet. AIR correspondent quoting sources reports, a motion for constituting a JPC would be moved on Thursday by Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal after the Prime Minister replies to the Motion of Thanks to the President's address to the joint sitting of Parliament. The motion on the JPC would then be referred to the Rajya Sabha for its concurrence. The government has already agreed to the opposition demand for formation of a JPC into 2G spectrum allocation, an issue over which the entire winter session of Parliament was washed out. Government sources indicated that the JPC will be broad- based and would accommodate as many parties as possible.
