Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will conduct an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Andhra Pradesh on Friday. During is expected to arrive this afternoon in Vijayawada on his two-day visit to the flood ravaged areas in Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring Karnataka. He will hold a review meeting on flood relief with Chief Minister K Rosaiah at Rajabhawan in Hyderabad on Friday and will make a over night halt. Dr Singh will also conduct an aerial survey of flood-hit areas in Karnataka on Saturday. The Prime minister will leave for Delhi on Saturday from Samshabad airport, after returning from Raichur by afternoon. Meanwhile, the flood situation improved further in Krishna and Guntur districts as water is receding fast from almost all villages and island habitations. The Water levels have come down in Repalle town and surrounding villages after filling up a 30 meter-wide breach in embankment. The state Government has now taken up sanitation of flood hit areas on a mission mode while relief works are underway in full swing in Kurnool, Mahaboobnagar, Krishna and Guntur districts. People have begun to return to their homes from the relief camps. State Information and Public Relations Minister said the death toll due to floods rose to 65 in the state. The verification of the deceased is underway to provide their kin an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh including one lakh rupees announced from the prime Minister’s relief Fund.
