Dr. Manmohan Singh will look after the work of Finance Ministry, said a Rashtrapati Bhawan release. Earlier, The President Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil has accepted the resignation of Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee with immediate effect as advised by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Mr. Mukherjee yesterday resigned from the Council of Ministers to fight Presidential Election slated on July 19th. He is the candidate of ruling UPA coalition.
