Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ambitious financial inclusion scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana today.

All the banks have started preparatory work to make the scheme a success.

AIR correspondents reports that people are enthusiastic about the scheme and have started arriving in the banks to make inquiries.

Public sector banks have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth roll-out of the scheme as they expect to open about one crore accounts on the first day today .

The process of opening of savings accounts will only be geared up after the Prime minister inaugurates the most awaited scheme later today.

Primary aim of the scheme is to bring poor people into the banking system by providing them bank accounts.

The scheme will cover both urban and rural areas and all bank accounts opened will be linked to a Ru-Pay debit card.

Besides the main function in Delhi, the scheme is being launched simultaneously at every state capital.
