PM to inaugurate refinery in Bathinda

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the Guru Gobind Singh Refinery at Bathinda in Punjab today.

The Rs 21,500-crore project is a joint venture of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd and a private company with an equal investment of 49 per cent by each, while 2 per cent share is of various financial institutions.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the function on the outskirts of Bathinda city, about 250 kilometers from Chandigarh. More than 3,000 security personnel have been deployed in and around the venue of the function.

A number of dignitaries, including Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil, Union Petroleum Minister Jaipal Reddy and Union Ministers Ambika Soni, Ashwani Kumar, Parneet Kaur and top officials of Petroleum Ministry will attend the function. Punjab Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his cabinet colleagues will also be present in the function.
