The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will inaugurate a conference of chief secretaries on Friday. It will deliberate on transparency and ethics in governance and areas of concern in some flagship social sector programmes of the government. An official statement said, the two-day conference will deliberate on areas of concern in programmes like Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana and Non-Conventional Energy Sources Programme, PM's Gram Sadak Yojana, Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme and National Rural Drinking Water Programme. AIR correspondent reports, internal security will be high on the agenda with Terrorism and Naxal menace posing a great threat to peace and stability in the country. The issue of price rise with a focus on the states to plug the leakages in the public distribution system and cracking down of whip on the hoarders and blackmarkeeters is also expected to be at the centre of the debate. The conference will help prepare an integrated approach for the development of the country and provide an occasion for discussion on global developments having bearing on the country. With all pressing issues on the agenda, the conference is likely to prove an important mile stone in preparing a holistic strategy for the inclusive development of the country.
