Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 46th Session of the Indian Labour Conference in New Delhi today. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be the guest of honour. The two day Conference will deliberate on social security for workers, both in organised and unorganised sectors, and job creation. Prime Minister will dedicate the National Career Service, NCS portal to the nation and launch health reforms of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation of India, ESIC on the occasion. <br/><br/>Ahead of the Labour Conference, Mr Modi met delegates of central trade unions in New Delhi yesterday evening. Views were exchanged on different issues raised by trade unions and their 10-point charter of demands. Talking to reporters, General Secretary of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh Vrijesh Upadhyay said, this is the first time that the Prime Minister is meeting the trade union delegates before the Conference. <br/><br/>Earlier, at a meeting between representatives of central trade unions and members of an inter-ministerial panel comprising Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Power Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh, differences reportedly persisted over the the contentious issues of contract labour and minimum wages.<br/><br/>However, there was convergence on certain other issues including recognition of trade unions, amendment to the Bonus Act and provision for greater social security benefits to workers.
