The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the 101st Indian Science Congress at Jammu University today. The five-day festival will focus on the theme “Innovations in Science and Technology for Inclusive Development”.
A road map for investing science into the development process of India is the main topic for discussion. International experts along with national luminaries from different streams of science and technology and many science academics are expected to participate in this congress.
Many international delegates, including Nobel laureates, senior scientists, teachers, young scholars and students are expected to participate and present their research findings.
Dr. Singh reached Jammu yesterday on a two day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. The Prime Minister attended an “At Home reception” hosted by state Governor N.N Vohra where he met Indian and foreign scientists participating in the Congress.
Earlier, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah apprised the Prime Minister about the peace and development scenario prevailing in the state.
AIR correspondent reports that Omar Abdullah raised the issue of closure of Pathribal case by the Army and said that those responsible for killings should be punished. The Chief Minister also discussed suspension of trade across LoC after the seizure of truck load of contraband drugs.
