PM to inagurate CMs’ meet on NCTC in New Delhi tommorow

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inagurate the special meeting of the Chief Ministers on the National Counter Terrorism Centre, NCTC at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi tommorow. Both Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P.Chidambaram will address the meeting on the shared responsibility of the Centre and the States in fighting terrorism.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had earlier said that, the Centre and the States are together in fighting terror. He had also hoped for a consensus to evolve with the States on the seting up of the NCTC.

Home minister P. Chidambaram had earlier this week, circulated the draft of the two Standard Operating Protocols for the NCTC to the States. He had also allayed the apprehensions of the Chief Minister's who had expressed their concerns. The Centre had also assured the Chief Ministers that the State governments would be taken into confidence before any operation is conducted in any state.

The Home ministry has also circulated the agenda papers for tommorow's meeting. Our correpondent reports, that the genesis, objectives, structure and powers of of the proposed National Counter Terrorism Centre will be discussed between the Centre and the States in tommorow Special meeting of Chief Ministers on the NCTC.
