PM to formally inaugurate 13th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Gujarat today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally inaugurate the13th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Gandhinagar, Gujarat this morning. He will also launch, 'Dandi Kutir', a unique exhibition depicting various stages of father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi life and work.

The Prime Minister, accompanied by Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu, was received at the Ahmedabad airport last night by Gujarat Governor OP Kohli and Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, among others. A large number of BJP workers also gathered outside the airport to receive Mr Modi. Addressing the party workers, the Prime Minister reiterated his commitment for clean India by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Through inauguration of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas at the capital of his home state Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to take his engagement with Indian Diaspora to a new level. As Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Mrs. Sushma Swaraj already called upon the young Indians and Indian-origin people around the world to contribute to the set of programs launched by the new Government yesterday, Prime Minister is likely to push the programs like 'Jan Dhan Yojana', 'Make-in-India', 'Swachh Bharat', 'Digital India' and 'Smart Cities' among the Indian Diaspora. Prime Minster Narendra Modi is also likely to announced major benefits for the people of Indian origin and Non-resident Indians which was hinted by the spoke person of External Affairs Ministry.

The three-day conclave is being held at the Mahatma Mandir complex in Gandhinagar to mark the centenary of India's, 'Sarva Sreshtha Pravasi Bharatiya', Mahatma Gandhi's return from South Africa to India.
Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari will present the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awards tomorrow, the closing day of the event.
