The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will dedicate to the nation the Vallarpadam International Container Transshipment Terminal in Kochi this morning. The first phase of the terminal, constructed at a cost 1600 crore rupees, has state of the art container handling facilities and a 600 meter quay length to accommodate large vessels. The ICTT will reduce the country's dependence on foreign ports for transshipment of containers. Dr Singh who arrived at the Naval airport in Kochi last night, was received by the Kerala Governor Mr. R S Gavai, Chief Minister Mr. V S Achuthandan and others.
