Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir today. During his visit, Mr Modi will dedicate the 45 MW Nimoo-Bazgo hydro electric power project situated at Alchi in Leh district and 44 MW Chutuk hydro electric power project in Kargil district. Both of these projects are on the run of Indus River and are the major power projects in Ladakh region. Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the construction of power transmission line from Leh to Kargil to Srinagar to connect the isolated region with the northern grid. It will ensure stability and reliability of power in this cold desert region. Mr Modi is also scheduled to address public meeting in Leh and Kargil. It is his first visit to this border area after becoming Prime Minister of the country.
