Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will visit Assam tomorrow is going to dedicate the Wax Plant of Numaligarh Refinery Limited , NRL to the nation. A release issued by the NRL said that the Wax project was commissioned last year at the cost of 676 crore rupees. The unit has production capacity of 50 TMT of paraffin wax and semi-micro crystalline wax annually. The technology used in the Solvent De-oiling Unit of the wax plant was developed indigenously.<br/><br/>The wax project is estimated to ensure reduction in import dependency by 53 percent. The project is also likely to contribute towards the Make in India campaign. Paraffin was used for making candles and tarpaulin along with pipe manufacturing industries. On the other hand, microcrystalline wax has been used in tyre manufacturing, rubber products and cosmetics, among others.
