Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate a 765 kilovolt Raichur-Solapur transmission line in Maharashtra to the nation tomorrow. The line connects Raichur in Karnataka with Solapur in Maharashtra. An official release issued in New Delhi said the interconnectivity of the two lines will achieve a pan-India synchronous grid of 2 lakh 49 thousand Mega Watt, one of the largest synchronous operating grids in the world. The link will establish infrastructure for import of power from the regional grids of northern, eastern, western and north-eastern parts to southern region during the time of peak demand. It will also facilitate export of surplus power from southern region during off-peak demand.
