The second Inter-Governmental Consultations, IGC between India and Germany will be held today at Berlin. It will be chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. German Chancellor Angela Merkel will participate in the Consultations. Our correspondent covering the Prime Minister's visit reports that Germany has IGC with only two other countries in Asia – China, and Israel.
External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid has said Security Council reforms are also high on the agenda for the bilateral summit. He said, both countries will make efforts to achieve the goal under the framework of the G-4.
The Prime Minister will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the German State Chancellery this morning. In the evening, Dr Manmohan Singh will attend the closing ceremony of the 'Days of India' celebrations in Germany. India and Germany have been celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Various events under the 'Days of India in Germany' were held from May 2012 to March 2013.
