PM to adopt Jayapur village under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana on his visit to Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be reaching Varanasi this morning on a two-day visit. It is his first visit to his Lok Sabha constituency after assuming power. Our correspondent reports that today the Prime Minister will be laying foundation stone of a trade facilitation centre and a crafts museum at Lalpur village under Sindhora block of the district. It is one of the major highlights of the Prime Minister’s trip. The project is aimed at the uplift of the weavers of Varanasi and adjoining districts. It is being implemented by the Ministry of Textiles at CPWD complex. It was announcement in the first general budget presented by his government in June this year. Mr. Modi will also interact with weavers during the function.

He will also adopt Jayapur village under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, MPs' model village scheme, under Rohaniya assembly segment of his parliamentary constituency. He will also meet with villagers during function organised on the occasion at the village. The scheme was launched on October 11 last month, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan. Mr Modi has described the scheme as an attempt to empower villagers to make choices and provide them with opportunities to exercise these options. Post lunch Prime Minister will be meeting general public at his Public Relation Office of his constituency and party workers at DLW guest house. Before concluding his first day schedules he will interact with prominent citizens and intellectuals of the city at a hotel.

Prime Minister will wrap up his two day tour tomorrow unveiling a Statue of Swami Vivekananda at Vijayanagar crossing and visiting the Maa Anand Mayi Ashram and hospital. Massive security arrangements are in place in the ancient temple town. Special Protection Group SPG which is directly responsible for the Prime Minister's security has taken over the security arrangements in its hands. State police and PAC have also been deployed across the city and in and around the venues of different programmes. Our correspondent reports that Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will receive the Prime Minister at the airport.
