Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make inaugural remarks at the ongoing Nuclear Security Summit in Washington DC today. He will also make interventions in the deliberations that will be held in the three plenary sessions on the last day of the summit today.<br/><br/>In the first plenary session, all world countries will present national progress reports on the actions that they have taken on the subject of nuclear security. This will be followed by a working lunch discussion on how to strengthen international organisations further in addressing nuclear issues. <br/><br/>And in the final session, a realistic scenario based discussion will be held on the challenges emerging from a threat of nuclear terrorism and how they could be responded to. The summit comes to a close with release of communiqu' – an action plan laying the roadmap for nuclear security in future. The issue of nuclear terrorism is expected to dominate the discussions at the summit today and President Obama in his weekly radio and web address to the nation, said that the challenges being posed by terror groups like ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) will be discussed at length at the summit.<br/><br/>The fourth nuclear security summit is the last summit in the current format and also under the presidency of President Obama. New Delhi hopes that the deliberations at the summit would create more awareness on the need for international cooperation for safeguarding nuclear devices and technologies. Talking to AIR, Indian Ambassador to the United States Mr Arun K Singh said that the summit would also help strengthening legal and enforcement measures in the realm of nuclear security. On the sidelines of nuclear summit, the Prime Minister will have a series of bilateral meetings before wrapping his visit to the United States.<br/><br/>A series of bilateral meetings are lined up for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the US capital on the sidelines of Nuclear Summit today. Before Making his opening remarks at the nuclear summit, Mr Modi will hold bilateral meetings with his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau. While making interventions in the summit deliberations all through the day, Mr Modi will also meet some other world leaders. He will hold bilateral talks with UK Prime Minister David Cameron and President of Argentina, Mr Mauricio Macri. In the afternoon, Mr Modi will meet his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe and also Switzerland President N Schneider-Ammann.
