PM to address H'bad global biodiversity meet today

The ongoing International Conference on Biodiversity in Hyderabad is entering its last and final phase of High Level Ministerial session today. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will be addressing the plenary session which ministers and heads of state from over 30 countries attend, this afternoon. The high level ministerial session will take decisions over the biodiversity issues including the fund mobilisation of implementing the UN biodiversity strategic plan and the Targets to be achieved by 2020. The member countries also will discuss implementation of the Nagoya Protocol over the Access and Benefit Sharing of genetic resources.
The 11th meeting of Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biodiversity-CoP11 has been deliberating upon a host of issues relating to Biodiversity for the last two weeks.
During the brief visit to Hyderabad this afternoon, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will unveil a Pylon to mark the Biodiversity Conference. A Biodiversity Park is being developed around the Pylon in a 15 acre area where saplings of bout 400 rare and endangered species will be planted. A Biodiversity Museum is also coming up at a total cost of 100 crore rupees.
