Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed the need to develop the Somnath Temple in Gujarat as an ancient heritage pilgrimage site and a tourist destination. <br/><br/>Mr Modi said this while attending a meeting of the Board of Trustees of Somnath Trust at his residence in New Delhi on Saturday. <br/><br/>The Prime Minister also suggested excavations of areas to establish various missing historic links. <br/><br/>He said, high-tech marine attractions and virtual reality shows should be covered in the future plan. <br/><br/>Mr Modi also suggested to bring maximum areas of Somnath under CCTV surveillance network. <br/><br/>During the meeting, the progress of various Projects of continuous growth of devotees visiting Somnath was reviewed. <br/><br/>The Trust has also decided to deposit about 6 kilogram gold under Gold Monetisation Scheme. <br/><br/>Mr L K Advani chaired the meeting of the Somnath Trust as its Chairman Keshubhai Patel was unwell. Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Harshavardhan Neotia, P K Laheri and J D Parmar who are the trustees also attended the meeting. <br/><br/>The Trust also welcomed newly appointed trustee Amit Shah.
