PM stresses need to improve approachability of farmers with agricultural research

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed the need to improve approachability of the farmers with agricultural reasearch.

Adressing the foundation day celebration of Indian Council of Agricultural Research ICAR in New Delhi today, Mr Modi said till farmers don't receive benefits of scientific and technological developments, progress in the true sense is incomplete.

Mr Modi asked the organisation to set goals on how the research can reach farmers and improve their lives.

The Prime Minister stressed on the need to ensure scientific management of water cycle keeping in mind the changing weather cycle.

He said farmers need to be empowered more in order to produce more and earn more. Mr. Modi expressed confidence that India will see great progress in agriculture.

He emphasized on Blue revolution as there is great scope for development of fisheries sector. Mr. Modi suggested that radio stations in the Agriculture colleges can bring Students and farmers and both can be benifited out of it. He also stressed to boost production of oilseeds and pulses to reduce import dependence.

Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh, Minister of State for Agriculture Dr Sanjiv Balyan also graced the occasion.
