Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Monday stressed the need for holistic education that would provide character and skills for the younger generations. Delivering 29th convocation address at the Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Learning in Puttaparthi in Ananthpur district of Andhra Pradesh ,he called upon fresh graduates to develop principles of sharing skills and abilities to lend a helping hand to the less privileged.Stating that the country needs global leaders in every sector such as education, business, science especially when the technology brings pressure, the Prime Minister asked the students to acquire skills at global level and act with a sense of responsibility for the society.He further said there was need to create technologies and systems for future. Stating that development of skills and persuasion of research should not be confined to technology and fields like humanities and philosophy must also persuade.He lauded the services being rendered to the backward and tribal areas especially in the Education and Health sectors.Over 300 students have been presented doctoral, post graduate and under graduate degrees from the deemed university in the presence of Sri Staya Sai Baba on the occasion.
