PM speaks to German Chancellor; Terms Germany as important partner to work with to strengthen bilateral & strategic ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today had a telephonic talk with German Chancellor Angela Merkel while in his transit halt at Frankfurt, Germany. Returning to India after attending the 6th BRICS Summit in Brazil the Prime Minister made a technical halt at Germany. An official spokesperson said that the Prime Minister had a fruitful telephonic conversation with the German Chancellor. Our correspondent covering the PM's visit reports that Mr. Modi said to Chancellor Merkel that India regards Germany as a very important partner and his government works closely with the German side to strengthen the bilateral and strategic partnership. The Prime Minister congratulated Merkel for the splendid victory of the German team in the recent football World Cup and also conveyed his good wishes for her 60th birthday, which is today.
Mr. Modi invited the German Chancellor to visit India in 2015 for the 3rd IGC India Germany Consultation. She accepted his invitation. The two leaders also briefly discussed bilateral cooperation in skill development.
