PM says, strengthening security across the country is government's top priority; Dedicates INS Vikramaditya to the nation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated INS Vikramaditya, country's largest warship to the nation. Addressing officers and sailors of the Navy on board INS Vikramaditya, Mr Modi said strengthening security across the country is government's top priority.

He said the induction of the largest warship would play a pivotal role in this regard. Saying that the INS Vikramaditya is a major force to the Naval jawans, the Prime Minister moots to create a Naval NCC across the coastline of the country. Mr Modi said that his government will build a national level war memorial and said that one rank one pension will be implemented soon.

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Navy Chief R K Dhowan accompany the Prime Minister. Mr Modi was given a ceremonial guard of honour on his arrival at the warship. Mr Modi witnessed air power demonstration by Naval Aircraft, including MiG 29K, Sea Harriers and Sea King helicopters. He watched high-speed manoeuvres by the western fleet ships, including aircraft carrier INS Viraat, Delhi-class destroyers and Talwar-class frigates.

In afternoon, Prime Minister will address BJP workers meeting at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium at Bambolim. Later in the evening, he will commission work on the third Mandovi Bridge at a function to be held at Kala Acadamy here.

An interactive session has been scheduled with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which selected invitees will take part.
