The Prime Minister has charged the opposition with continuing vote-bank politics to divide the society. Addressing the BJP's National Council meeting in New Delhi on Saturday Narendra Modi asserted that disturbance of peace and harmony will not be tolerated. He said, those who have suffered a massive defeat in the elections are still not able to desist from engaging in old vote-bank politics and engaging in disturbing the social fabric.
His attack on rivals comes against the backdrop of BJP being accused of fanning communal violence in Uttar Pradesh and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi storming the Well of the Lok Sabha demanding a debate on the issue terming the violence was artificially and deliberately engineered.
The Prime Minister asserted that BJP never accepts such incidents and peace, unity and harmony are the pre-requisites for progress and there will be no compromise on this.
On the grand victory in the Lok Sabha elections, Modi said that people have given their verdict to BJP and now it is party’s turn to fulfill the aspirations of people. He expressed hope that government will be successful in bringing about a change in the country mentioning that in 60 days, things have started moving. Apparently attacking the Congress, Mr. Modi said those who have not done anything for 60 years are asking for NDA government's account of 60 days rule. He said his government is judged by different and tough yardsticks and he accepts the challenge.
Modi on Saturday justified India's stand of not signing Trade Facilitation Agreement at WTO saying government can not compromise with the interests of poor people. He said there were efforts to isolate India on the issue but it preferred feeding poor people to the good publicity world wide. Without naming Congress, he said those who seek vote in the name of food security, had signed such an agreement which was anti poor. He said his government will not make any compromise on the issue of food security. The Prime Minister said that now the outlook of the world towards India has changed as there is a government with absolute majority.
Modi asked partymen to dedicate each year to promote social cause like energy conservation, toilet facility in rural areas and girl child education and strengthen the party organization at booth level. He also emphasized the need for leading the representative democracy into a participatory democracy in the country.
