Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday said the government will look into delay in response in the Delhi gang rape case as also all aspects concerning the security of women. He also asked people to desist from violence.

The Prime Minister's statement came as protests, which turned violent yesterday, continued for the seventh day today.

In a televised address, Dr. Singh said he and his family join in the concern for the 23-year-old victim, who was gang raped and brutally assaulted in a moving bus in south Delhi on December 16th night.

Dr. Singh said the government is constantly monitoring her medical condition. The Prime Minister said, the government will examine the delay not only in the responses to this terrible crime but also all aspects concerning the safety and security of women.
