While the ruling UPA has said that the budget will help economy to grow at a higher trajectory, the opposition described it as anti people fuelling inflation. The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in his reaction to the Budget said that it would help the economy to return to nine per cent growth.<br/><br/>The opposition which staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha in protest against the proposal to hike excise duty on petroleum products, told reporters outside Parliament that they will launch a nation wide agitation against the decision. Talking to reporters, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Mrs Sushma Swaraj said that the move would lead to price rise. She described the Budget as anti people.<br/><br/>The Finance Minister Mr Pranab Mukherjee said that he has raised its factory gate taxes as industry is on a recovery path. He forecast the economy to grow at 8.5 percent in the next fiscal. Mr Mukherjee said the budget for 2010/11 gave a correct signal towards fiscal consolidation.<br/><br/>President of Janta Dal United Mr Sharad Yadav said that Budget will add to the woes of common man.<br/><br/>Mr Sitaram Yechury of the CPIM says that the party has decided to launch a ‘Dilli Chalo’ march on 12th of next month and invited other secular parties to join the campaign against the anti poor and anti growth budget proposals.<br/><br/>Mr Gurudas Dasgupta of the CPI described it as anti farmer and anti worker.<br/>Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said that government has belied the expectations of the common man.<br/><br/>RJD Chief Lalu Prasad , while pledging support to the agitation, said that the Budget had nothing which addresses the concern of growing food inflation.<br/><br/>Strongly criticizing the Opposition, the Congress party today said that Budget is a very fine act of balancing the economy. Party spokesman Manish Tewari said it will accelerate the social and infrastructural development.<br/><br/>Favouring hike in excise on petroleum products, former finance minister Mr Jaswant Singh said that market driven prices mechanism was also in place during NDA rule.<br/><br/>Several UPA allies supported the Budget proposals saying it will give impetus to growth and ensure that the concerns of the common man are properly addressed. They maintained that it will also help in fiscal consolidation.<br/><br/>Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries has welcomed the Union Budget for 2010-11 presented by the Union Finance Minister in Lok-Sabha today. <br/><br/>The President of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries- Mr.Rupesh Shah has said that increase in the slab of 10 percent Income Tax from 1.60 lac to 5 lac will benefit vast middle class of the country by increasing in purchase power. <br/><br/>He said that partial roll back of stimulus package will also help the economy to maintain the growth momentum.<br/><br/>Mr.Shah said that incentives to the Research and Development in the industries would also help to strengthen our competitiveness in the world market.<br/><br/>The common people and salaried class have also welcomed the budget except additional cess on petrol and diesel prices.
