PM says 184 poorest performing districts on health issues identified; assure to put more resources

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said 184 poorest performing districts on health outcomes have been identified and special efforts are being made to put more resources in these areas.<br/><br/>Speaking at the Global Call to Action Summit-ending preventable child and maternal deaths–in New Delhi today, he said his government will ensure that every woman and every child who can be saved will be saved.<br/><br/>Mr Modi said, it will be ensured that no child in India dies of vaccine preventable maternal deaths.<br/><br/>He said, if the current trend of annual decline in under five mortality rate is sustained, India is likely to reach close to achieving the Millennium Development Goals target.<br/><br/>Prime Minister said, the country has achieved a milestone by eliminating maternal and neonatal Tetanus.<br/><br/>He said historic accomplishment has been achieved by India on March 27th last year as there is not a single polio patient in the country.<br/><br/>Saying clean and hygienic environ is the stepping stone to a healthy nation, Mr Modi said the government has launched Janani Suraksha Yojana where incentives were given for delivering in public institutions to beneficiaries directly.<br/><br/>The Prime minister said, India has always partnered with the global efforts on issues of child and maternal health.<br/><br/>He said the government has added to the world's largest immunization drive known as Mission Indradhanush which focusses on vaccination and immunisation.<br/><br/>Mr Modi urged all the participating countries to join together in their commitment to end preventable maternal and child death.<br/><br/>He expressed hope the two days summit will provide a new direction to the global community in its journey towards ending maternal and child deaths.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Health minister J P Nadda said government is accelerating all efforts to prevent malaria and HIV among children.<br/><br/>Mr Nadda said the government is committed for setting bold targets and achieving them in area of maternal and child health care.<br/><br/>He said all should work extra mile to reach the unreachable and have equity focus.<br/><br/>He said a lot of progress has been achieved on preventable health care front but challenges still lie ahead.<br/><br/>The Health Minister said the country will achieve a lot in reducing infant mortality rate and maternal mortality rate at a faster pace than the global ones.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, for the first time the Global Call to Action Summit is being held outside USA.<br/>
