PM rules out his resignation in wake of controversy on ordinance on convicted legislators

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has ruled out his resignation in the wake of controversy on the ordinance on convicted legislators. Talking to reporters on board the special aircraft back home, he said he will discuss the issue with the Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi and others. Dr. Singh who returned home after a five day visit to US described his visit as useful.

During his stay in the United States, Dr. Singh held extensive discussions with the US President, Barack Obama to widen and diversify bilateral relations. The two leaders also called for taking effective steps to deal with the menace of terrorism. The Prime Minister described Pakistan as an epicentre of terrorism and urged international community to close the ranks to deal with this problem. Dr. Singh also held bilateral meeting with the Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif urging him to end sponsoring violence from Pakistan or the territory under its control to resume the dialogue process. The Prime Minister also held discussions with Bangladeshi the counterpart on a host of issues to take the relations to greater heights.

AIR Correspondent covering the Prime Minister's visit reports that Dr. Singh in his address to the UN General Assembly raised the issue of reforming UN Security Council and dealing with the climate change.
