Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today held a high-level meeting in New Delhi to review implementation of various developmental projects in Manipur. Official sources said the meeting focussed on early completion of various national projects pertaining to railways, highways, irrigation, power and health. The Prime Minister also took stock of Rs 900-crore Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences and other projects. Sources said upgradation of alternative alignment of National Highway to bypass sinking areas and link Manipur to Assam through Nagaland also figured in the discussions. Pipeline project from Thoubal multi-purpose dam project to Imphal city for augmentation of drinking water supply was also on the agenda. Kasturba Gandhi Residential School in nine districts and Navodaya Vidyalaya in two districts were also taken up for discussion.
