PM reviews country's economy with Planning Commission members

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh held a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Panning Commission and other members last evening, to review the state of the country's economy. <br/> <br/>Later, Member, Planning Commission, Abhijit Sen said that Dr. Manmohan Singh suggested that the performance of the current fiscal be incorporated into the mid-term appraisal of the 11th Plan, by March. The Prime Minister also reviewed the performance of various sectors that were hard hit by the global melt-down.<br/> <br/>Dr Manmohan Singh is also understood to have discussed gross budgetary support for the next fiscal, in view of the start of the budgetary exercise as well measures to check rising food prices. <br/> <br/>AIR correspondent says the closed door meeting, which lasted for about two hours, came a day after the Delivery Monitoring Cell in the PMO – reviewed the progress of the 18 flagship and other programmes, as well as the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Plan for Jammu and Kashmir and Infrastructure Development in the North-Eastern Region.<br/>
