PM reviews Central schemes in Assam

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today made an on-the-spot visit of the projects implemented under the Multi-Sectoral Developement Programme (MSDP) of the Centre at the minority-concentrated areas of Rampur village in Kamrup district of Assam.He visited eight houses built by the Juhali Gaon Panchayat and interacted with the beneficiaries. The funds for construction of the houses were provided by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs.Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and other top officials accompanied Dr. Singh.The Prime Minister, who is also a Rajya Sabha member from Assam, is on a two-day visit to the state.Dr. Singh will lay the foundation stones of the National Institute of Design at Sibsagar and the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology at Jorhat in Upper Assam, before his departure to New Delhi.
