Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi after concluding his two-day visit to Paris, France. Prime Minster took part in Conference of Parties of United Nation framework convention on climate change popularly known as COP 21. Prime Minster said that the life style of few must not be crowd out opportunities for many still at the bottom of the development ladder. <br/><br/>While announcing ambitious plans of India to cut carbon emissions intensity by 35% of India's GDP by 2030, he cautioned the world's leaders that India has also to meet the aspiration of 1.25 billion people out of which 300 million are without access to energy. Prime Minister said developed world in order to provide leeway to developing country must not use the carbon space of 1000 giga tonnes disproportionately which is available till 2100 to keep the global warming below 2 degree celsius. <br/><br/>On the side lines of the conference, the long cherished dream of Mr Modi to harness solar power for energy came to reality when French President Francois Hollande and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon shared the dais with Mr Modi along with 33 head of states in attendance and formally launched the International Solar Alliance. Mr Modi said the world must turn to Sun to power our future. <br/><br/>He said since ancient times different civilizations have given special place to Sun. In Indian tradition, Sun is the source of all energy, he said.<br/>He said this is an alliance that brings together developed and developing countries, governments and industries, laboratories and institutions, in a common enterprise. <br/><br/>He announced that India will be hosting the headquarters of solar alliance at the premises of National Institute of Solar Energy and contribute 30 million US dollars to build the secretariat infrastructure. UN Secretary General lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Modi and said that UN will cooperate with International Solar Alliance for generating clean energy. <br/><br/>Prime Minster attended the Mission Innovation Summit along with French president Francois Holland, US President Barack Obama. The Mission Innovation has been launched to double the budget for clean energy research and development by 20 countries. <br/><br/>The mission calls for private players and investors to support the programme by way of funding. Speaking at the event, PM said the partnership will combine the responsibility of governments with the innovative capacity of the private sector. He said we will double our investments in research and innovation and would deepen our collaboration among ourselves.<br/><br/>Earlier, Prime Minister formally inaugurated Indian Pavilion at the summit venue. India's pavilion was a glittering example of Indian values of living with nature and social values of sustainable living. PM also launched a book Paramapara during the event on India's climate friendly and sustainable living.
